Assignment 11.1
Continue reading Oliver Twist this week. Read pp 199-248 of the book for this week.
Choose one of the following:
1. give me 10-15 "bullet" statements of what has happened in this week's reading. I would also like you to comment next to 4 of the bullet statements as to your reaction to what is happening in the reading. This means I want some "thought" into your "thoughts".
Title the assignment: "11.1; Ollie; pp 199-248 bullets".
2. choose a character from this week...or last week's reading and create a collage of them with pictures, quotes, or other descriptions that will give the reader a good idea of who the person is, what they are like, and their moral character. There is no particular format for this. Use your imagination and creativity....and make it something I will want to look at : )
Title the assignment: "11.1; collage".

Assignment 11.4
In this assignment, things will be a bit different than last time.
Click on the picture to the right and watch the summary of
Beowulf in 11 minutes. In order to take notes over the video, you will
need to pause it lots, so in order to avoid this, I want you to watch
it straight through one time, then go back and watch it again, taking
notes over the basic plot of the story using bullet points. Just to give you and idea of how "basic" I want you to be, I want no more than about 10 bullet points.
**Note: this video has a bit of language toward the end....so be ready for a few "damns", "hells", etc.
Note: Always submit your notes as:

Your job for this assignment?
~Read the "plot overview"
~write 12 bullet statements listing the
events of the plot in order, as well as the characters
and setting (who did what, when?)
~Also, for this assignment, tell me about Natty Bumpo.
Tell me if he was a true hero by researching what a hero is
and using examples from the plot, show whether or not he fits into the "hero" definition.
I need about 250-300 words for this. VERY IMPORTANT: Every stinkin' paper you write for me MUST be in 5 paragraph form. That's how you write at the college level....always.

Discussion Board Initial Comment.
Go to the Discussion Board and write your initial comment on one of the topics below. Your initial comment must be 5-7 well thought out sentences to receive credit for this assignment.
VERY IMPORTANT: You are now at a point where you should be able to do your own research for the discussion board questions. Don't write to me and say, "but they never talked about it in the summary, so how am I supposed to answer the question?". Google it and do some digging....this is what college will expect and you need to get used to doing it.
College Students: Your initial comment must be 8-12 well thought out sentences

Last assignment of the week:
College Students Only
This week, I would like you to focus on one particular thing you learned from class this week and write exclusively on that topic. For example, if an event happened in Oliver Twist that really made you think, write about it, or if something happened at home, write about it. It doesn't have to be a learning experience necessarily from the course material, it may be an experience that happened while 'living life"
To receive full credit, you should have 10-15 well-thought out sentences (which means several paragraphs written in correct form...topic sentences with support)
