12 bullet statements that are short and descriptive following the plot and answering the questions, "who did what, when?"

12 or less bullet statements that are long and drawn out and/or confusing to the reader but seem to follow the general plot
Less than 12 bullet statements that make little sense and fail to follow the plot
Writing is smooth, skillful, coherent.  Sentences are strong and expressive with varied structure.  Diction is consistent and words well chosen.

Paragraph skillfully encompasses the plotline, characters, and setting of the story
Writing is clear, but sentences may lack variety.  Diction is appropriate.





Paragraph basically encompasses the plotline, characters, and setting of the story
Writing is confusing, hard to follow.  Contains fragments and/or run-on sentences.  Inappropriate diction. 



Paragraph ignores much of the plotline, characters, and setting of the story
Two paragraphs supporting each of the two points of the thesis using examples from the novel to support argument.
Two paragraphs supporting each of the two points of the thesis but fail to support argument by using examples from the novel.
Fail to use 2 paragraphs and does not support the argument using examples from the novel.
